From
St. Andrews
The David Alexander story started in Fife, Scotland. About a four-iron from the home of golf in St. Andrews. But it came to life in South-East Asia after a fruitless search for more stylish golfing accessories.
To
Singapore
I was in Singapore and - not for the first time - my head-covers were disintegrating in the island state's uncompromising humidity.
So, I started to look for something more robust and a wee bit more personal. I wanted a head-cover that said more about me and live at least as long as the club it purported to protect.
But I quickly realised, that in order to get the quality that I needed, I was going to have to make them myself.
And
Back again
And so journey began. We took the product, the market and the supply chain apart. We cut, we pasted, we tore and we tested. We went from the back bedroom in Sentosa to a workshop back in Fife. We found new uses for technologies that we didn't know existed and for some that have been around for centuries.
We took a one-hundred-year-old product, redesigned it around a global playing experience and made what we now think are the finest golf club head-covers in the world.
And
We're just getting started
Every David Alexander head-cover is hand-crafted from premium leather and the latest microfibre fabrics to create the best combination of performance, personality and style.
But we have also found a way to bring previously cost-prohibitive technologies (i.e. laser etching, digital printing) into the production process and develop and test product prototypes without large capital investments.
The result of which is a stunning range of dynamic product lines that enable players to express their style and personality through a medium that they've never really had before.
Born Local
Thinking Global
In short, we have also created a platform to facilitate design excellence in a modern context and we're building a company around this. .
The head-cover is just the first iteration of a range of higher quality sports accessories that we want to coordinate around an exciting new design brand.
And where best to start this golfing style revolution, but in the place where it all began.
